Brian Hess is an entrepreneur, operator, and leader who has built, scaled, and advised
businesses across construction, media, technology, and education. He is the Founder and
CEO of The Pavement Group, a national pavement and infrastructure management firm
operating across the United States, and the Founder of Top Contractor School, one of the
country’s leading leadership and business education communities for contractors and trade
professionals.
Over the past decade, Brian has worked directly with hundreds of contractors and business
owners, helping them navigate growth, leadership development, operational discipline, and
the realities of scaling service-based businesses. His experience spans everything from
frontline execution to executive strategy, with a deep focus on building systems that create
clarity, accountability, and long-term sustainability. He is known for his direct, no-nonsense
approach to leadership and his belief that strong cultures, disciplined processes, and clear
decision-making outperform hype every time.
Brian is also the Founder of 1TEAM Media, a content and storytelling company focused on
helping organizations build visibility and engagement through authentic communication. He
hosts The Brian Hess Show, where he has interviewed leaders from business, sports, and
industry on what it truly takes to perform at a high level over time.
